Periyar Tiger Reserve:

The forests around the lake were declared as Reserved Forests in 1899.

Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary:

A picturesque lake, a majestic arch dam across two hills and roaming herds of elephants and gaur are sights that lure you to this enchanting canopy of tropical semi-evergreen and deciduous forests. Eravikulam National Park:
With this wildlife extension tour you can visit the Eravikulam National Park, situated in the south Indian state of Kerala in the higher altitudes of the Western Ghats. The park extends from the latitude 9 40' in the North to the longitude 77 20" in the East. A part of the Idukki district, Eravikulam is very near to the scenic hill station of Munnar. The Eravikulam National Park was established to protect the Nilgiri Tahr, endangered specie of the wild goat and the only one to be found south of the Himalayas. Rich in forest and grasses, this park is relatively new as it was in 1978 that the area was notified as a park. The park lies along the high ranges of the western coast in the Munnar Forest Division of Idukki district in Kerala.
Thekkady Wildlife Sanctuary:
Thekkady, located 65 km from Idukki is one of finest wildlife reserves in India. Wildlife extension tour takes you to Thekkady wildlife sanctuary. This bird sanctuary is a peninsular land of 25 sq. km formed between the branches of River Periyar. The rivers are rich in fish life and are shallow for most of the year. The avifauna includes both resting indigenous birds and water birds. The most notable of the birds are Malabar grey hornbill, grey jungle fowl, heron, egret, jungle myna, woodpecker, rose winged and blue winged parakeet. Rare birds like Ceylon frogmouth, rose-billed roller etc. are also seen.
Kumarakom Wildlife Sanctuary:
This wildlife extension tour takes you to Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, situated on the banks of the Vembanand Lake is known for its varied avian population. Local varieties such as waterfowls, cuckoos and owls, as well as the migratory Siberian Cranes can be viewed here.
